Ziaulihak Zakari admits he was hired for the attack but says he mistakenly targeted the wrong victim; co-suspect also arraigned as shocking details emerge
A 37-year-old suspect identified as Ziaulihak Zakari, popularly known as “Abuja,” has confessed to participating in a brutal acid attack on a female spa worker in Lakowe, Lagos State, after allegedly receiving ₦500,000 for the job.
The victim, Olorunseunfunmi Awosogbon, sustained severe injuries to her head, chest, and hands in the October 25, 2025 incident. Reports indicate she had gone for a home-service appointment arranged through her employer at Lakowe Golf Gate, near Utmost Care Hospital, but was not the intended target of the attack.
Her employer, Olorunmaye Ifeoluwa, claimed the assault stemmed from a long-standing dispute linked to a past romantic relationship that ended amid months of conflict.
Zakari and another suspect, Owolabi Daniel, have since been arraigned on charges including conspiracy, threat to life, and causing grievous bodily harm.
In his confession, Zakari admitted he was recruited through a chain of contacts involving a security guard. He said Daniel approached him with the proposal.
“There is a man named Daniel who contacted me through a security guard and said he had a job. When he mentioned pouring acid on someone, I agreed,” Zakari confessed.
He further revealed he was paid ₦500,000 for the operation and gave ₦50,000 to the intermediary who connected them, expressing regret that the wrong person was attacked.
Court filings show that the suspects allegedly conspired in October 2025 in Lakowe, Ibeju-Lekki, to commit felony involving threats to life and grievous harm, in violation of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
