Jonathan Poised for 2027 Presidential Comeback, Declaration Imminent — Coalition

Convener Tom Ohikere says consultations are ongoing as supporters express confidence in ex-president’s return bid.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to feature on the ballot in the 2027 presidential election, with a formal declaration anticipated soon, according to the Convener of the Coalition for Jonathan, Tom Ohikere.

Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, Ohikere said ongoing consultations and internal political signals indicate that Jonathan is edging closer to announcing his decision to re-enter the race.

“Goodluck Jonathan will be on the ballot. In the fullness of time, shortly, he will make his pronouncement,” Ohikere stated, underscoring the coalition’s belief that the former president is seriously weighing calls to return to active politics.

He noted that supporters across the country remain convinced of Jonathan’s enduring national appeal, arguing that his leadership experience could prove pivotal in reshaping Nigeria’s political direction.

Ohikere added that while momentum is building, the former president is approaching the decision with caution, engaging in wide-ranging consultations before making a final move.

The coalition, he said, remains optimistic about Jonathan’s participation, insisting that his relevance cuts across regions and demographics. He further stressed that their push is driven by a desire for stability and leadership renewal ahead of the 2027 elections.

Discussions within the group are expected to continue as they await Jonathan’s official pronouncement.
