Cleric warns APC and opposition figures face political shake-ups, says loyalty to Tinubu won’t guarantee survival
Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has forecast major political upheavals ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, warning that upcoming party primaries could dramatically reshape the country’s political landscape.
Speaking on Saturday, May 16, 2026, Ayodele said the internal contests within political parties are likely to trigger the downfall of several influential figures. He stressed that the primaries would produce unexpected outcomes, affecting both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition parties.
The cleric specifically cautioned that the APC should brace for significant internal shocks, noting that alignment with current power structures would not guarantee political survival. According to him, many politicians who appear dominant today may lose their footing once the selection process begins.
Ayodele explained that the primaries would expose deep-seated divisions, rivalries, and competing interests within party ranks. He added that the process would test loyalties, with shifting alliances likely to redefine political camps.
He further warned that visible support for key figures may not translate into actual votes when it matters most, emphasizing that the political environment would become increasingly competitive and unpredictable.
“A lot of people will cry, powerful people will fall across political parties, including the APC,” Ayodele said. “Not all the people following Tinubu and singing ‘On Your Mandate’ will survive it.”
