Abakpa New Extension residents commend philanthropist’s swift transformer repair and urge more public-spirited interventions in power, water and healthcare.

Residents of Abakpa New Extension in Kaduna North Local Government Area have commended Honourable Abdullahi Yarima for swiftly restoring power to their community, describing his intervention as “timely, people-centered and rare.”

The community’s electricity transformer had collapsed weeks ago, plunging thousands of households into blackout and crippling daily life, especially access to water from boreholes powered by electric pumps.

Following an appeal from community leaders, Hon. Yarima intervened and funded the repair of the transformer. Power was restored within one week, bringing immediate relief to residents and businesses that depend on electricity.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Alhaji Alamin K. Wambai said the restoration of electricity had lifted a heavy burden from households.  

“We sincerely appreciate Hon. Abdullahi Yarima for his prompt response. The repair of this transformer has given significant relief to many families, particularly those who rely on electric pumps to draw water from our boreholes,” Wambai said.

Another community leader, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed, described the speed of the intervention as unprecedented.  

“This is the first time we have seen our transformer repaired within one week. His quick response shows he truly listens to the people’s concerns,” Mohammed said.

Hajiya Rabi Maman Hauwa, who spoke on behalf of women in the area, said the entire community was joyful over the development. She offered prayers for Hon. Yarima’s continued success and called on other wealthy and well-meaning individuals to emulate his example.  

“We are happy. May Allah continue to bless him. We also appeal to other privileged people to support projects that directly improve the lives of ordinary citizens in their communities,” she said.

Beyond Electricity: Health Support Noted

Community leaders further recalled that within the last month, Hon. Yarima donated GeePee water tanks to Abakpa Primary Health Care Centre to boost water supply and improve service delivery at the facility.

Residents described both interventions as evidence of community-oriented leadership focused on basic needs — power, water and health.

They expressed appreciation to Hon. Yarima and prayed for more opportunities for him to contribute to the development and welfare of the people.

The Abakpa New Extension intervention comes amid growing public complaints across Kaduna State over prolonged power outages and delays in fixing public infrastructure, making the one-week turnaround a point of commendation for residents.
