One child’s body recovered as search continues for two sisters swept away by floodwaters four days earlier.
The younger brother of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) 2027 Bauchi South senatorial candidate, Shehu Aliyu Musa, has lost his three children to flooding in Abuja, in a tragedy that has plunged the family into mourning.
The children, identified as Maryam, Umar and Hanifah, were reportedly swept away by floodwaters four days before October 4.
The PRP Bauchi State chapter said the body of Umar, the male child, had been recovered, while efforts to locate the bodies of Maryam and Hanifah were still ongoing.
The children’s father, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu Musa, is the younger brother of Shehu Aliyu Musa, who is seeking the PRP ticket for Bauchi South in the 2027 senatorial election.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, expressed condolences to the bereaved family through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.
The governor has described the deaths as devastating and painful, saying words were inadequate to capture the family’s grief.
Mohammed prayed for the deceased children to be granted Aljannatul Firdaus and asked God to give their parents, siblings and other relatives the strength and patience to endure the loss.
He also assured the family that the government and people of Bauchi State stood with them in their moment of grief.
The PRP Bauchi State chapter also mourned the deaths, extending condolences to Shehu Aliyu Musa, Abubakar Aliyu Musa and the entire family. The party prayed for the eternal repose of the children and strength for the family as the search for the two missing girls continues.
