Tottenham Fandom Helped Me Battle Cancer — Farooq Oreagba

Capital market executive and “Mr Steeze” says fitness, discipline, and football passion shaped his resilience during his cancer fight

At the 2024 Ojude Oba Festival, Farooq Oreagba, a capital market executive and cultural ambassador, delivered a standout appearance that lit up social media.

Oreagba, popularly known as “Mr Steeze,” has remained firmly in the spotlight since then.
In an interview, he explained that exercise plays a crucial role when battling any disease. According to him, it doesn’t have to be golf or a marathon, but he chose that path.

Ironically, he had never run a marathon until he was diagnosed with cancer. He completed his first 42km marathon in 2017. For him, staying active and maintaining good health are what truly matter.

He added that he participated in the marathon to raise money for a cancer charity. Ultimately, his philosophy is simple: health is wealth, and if you are going to fight any battle, you must be physically fit.

Oreagba also disclosed that he has been playing squash since the age of 11. By 12, he was representing Lagos State, and he went on to play rugby semi-professionally until 2008.
“Mr Steeze” further revealed that he is a devoted Tottenham Hotspur supporter, a club he has followed for over 20 years. “I am a season ticket holder,” he said.
