Operation Fansan Yamma troops rescue four abducted villagers and six others after engaging terrorists in separate incidents across Maru and Tsafe LGAs.

Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have foiled two separate abduction attempts and rescued 10 people during operations in Zamfara State.

The operations were carried out on September 27, 2026, in Maru and Tsafe Local Government Areas of the state, according to the task force.

In the first incident, troops of Sector 2 rescued four villagers who had been abducted by terrorists at Kade Daba village in Kanoma District, Maru LGA.

The troops, acting on credible intelligence about the abduction, swiftly moved into the area and engaged the terrorists, rescuing three of the victims.

A subsequent search of the area led to the rescue of a fourth victim, who had been separated from the others.

In a separate incident along the Tsafe-Funtua Road, troops conducting a picketing operation heard gunshots around Kwanoni and immediately moved towards the location.

They encountered terrorists withdrawing through nearby high ground and engaged them, forcing the attackers to flee.

The task force said the terrorists had also set a Sharon vehicle ablaze while attempting to abduct its occupants. The occupants managed to escape before the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames.

Six additional people were rescued after their vehicle reportedly lost control amid the gunfire, bringing the total number of people rescued during the two operations to 10.

The Theatre Commander commended the troops for their vigilance and swift response, while reaffirming the task force's commitment to sustained operations against terrorists across the North-West.

Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with timely and credible information about suspicious movements and activities in their communities.
