FCT Minister cracks down on negligence, vows strict enforcement as probe begins into structural failure.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate arrest of the owner of a building that collapsed in Abuja, intensifying the government’s response to recurring structural failures in the city.

In a decisive move, Wike also directed the revocation of the land allocation tied to the property, blaming the incident on negligence and blatant disregard for approved building standards.

The structure, located within the FCT, reportedly caved in under unclear circumstances, sparking fresh concerns over compliance with construction regulations and safety protocols in the capital.

Wike warned that the administration would no longer tolerate substandard construction practices, stressing that developers who flout laid-down guidelines would face severe consequences.

He further mandated relevant agencies to launch a full-scale investigation into the collapse, with instructions to ensure that all individuals found responsible are held accountable.
