ANTP confirms the Nollywood veteran is stable and recuperating after weeks of social media speculation over his health
Veteran Nollywood actor Prince Adewale Adeoye Elesho has successfully undergone surgery and is currently stable and recovering well, the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) has confirmed.
The development was announced on Saturday, August 29, by Prince Adejonwo Oluwafemi, the National Publicity Secretary of ANTP, in a statement aimed at reassuring fans, colleagues and members of the public about the actor’s condition.
According to Oluwafemi, the veteran actor came through the medical procedure successfully and is now recuperating.
“We give all glory to God for the successful completion of his operation. We hereby confirm that the operation was successful. He is stable and recuperating well,” the statement said.
The association also expressed appreciation to Nigerians and members of the entertainment industry who had reached out, offered prayers and shown concern for Elesho’s wellbeing.
“We sincerely appreciate everyone who called, prayed, and showed concern. Your love and support are deeply appreciated,” Oluwafemi added.
Health rumours sparked concern
The confirmation comes after weeks of concern and speculation surrounding the actor’s health, particularly on social media.
Questions about Elesho’s wellbeing intensified after photos and observations about his facial appearance at a public event began circulating online. The development led to widespread speculation, with some social media reports alleging that the actor was suffering from skin cancer.
However, the claims generated online were not established by the ANTP statement, which focused instead on confirming that Elesho had undergone surgery successfully and was recovering.
The association’s clarification is expected to ease concerns among the veteran actor’s fans, colleagues and admirers who had become worried about his health.
Elesho is widely recognised for his contributions to Nigerian theatre and film, particularly through his long-standing career in Yoruba-language entertainment. Over the years, he has built a reputation as one of the respected veterans of the Nigerian performing arts industry.
For many of his admirers, news of his successful surgery comes as a welcome relief following the uncertainty generated by the recent social media reports.
The ANTP has urged the public to appreciate the importance of supporting the actor as he continues his recovery, while expressing gratitude for the prayers and goodwill extended to him.
