Atlético Madrid’s firm stance and €200m valuation push Barça to consider Victor Osimhen as a more realistic successor to Lewandowski.

Barcelona, the La Liga giants, have shifted their attention to Victor Osimhen after Atlético Madrid maintained a firm stance on keeping Julián Álvarez.

The Catalan club had initially identified Álvarez as their primary target for the summer transfer window, but securing the Argentine striker is proving increasingly difficult.

According to reports, Barcelona are exploring both Álvarez and Osimhen as potential long-term replacements for veteran forward Robert Lewandowski.

Álvarez is reportedly valued at around €200 million — a figure that would make him one of the most expensive transfers in football history, behind Neymar’s €222 million move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

Atlético Madrid signed Álvarez for €95 million in 2024 and are unwilling to sell unless an offer exceeds €100 million.

Barcelona, however, are only prepared to offer around €70 million, well below Atlético’s valuation.

With negotiations for Álvarez becoming increasingly complicated, Barcelona are now focusing more on Osimhen, who is valued at approximately €75 million.

That figure aligns with the amount Galatasaray reportedly paid for the Nigerian striker last summer, although it remains unclear whether the Turkish club would demand a higher fee to sanction his departure.

Osimhen is among the leading options under consideration and is viewed as a more attainable target than the 2022 World Cup winner.
