Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) identifies overspeeding and driver fatigue as possible causes of the deadly crash along the Kano–Maiduguri Expressway.
In Bauchi State, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that nine passengers died while 10 others sustained injuries in a fatal road crash.
The Sector Commander of FRSC, Apaji Danladi Boyi, revealed this during a press briefing.
According to him, the accident occurred this morning along the Jama’are–Azare axis of the Kano–Maiduguri Expressway. The crash involved a commercial vehicle with registration number KTG 181 ZZ, which was transporting 19 passengers from Gombe to Kano.
The FRSC commander stated that preliminary investigations indicate overspeeding, driver fatigue, and loss of control as likely causes of the accident, although further investigations are ongoing.
FRSC operatives rescued the injured victims and took them to the Federal Medical Centre, Azare, where they are receiving treatment.
He also warned motorists to obey traffic rules, noting that traffic volume remains high as many travelers return to their destinations after the yuletide season.
