Police confirm Faith Ajoke Alayande’s death at the Nigerian Law School hostel as investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A 23-year-old student of the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus, Victoria Island, Faith Ajoke Alayande, has died at the institution’s hostel.

Alayande was found dead within the hostel premises on Friday, August 7, 2026, in an incident that has left colleagues, friends and those who knew her deeply saddened.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident, saying the circumstances surrounding the student’s death were still being investigated.

According to the police, a note was reportedly discovered by one of Alayande’s hostel mates and a relative, who had become concerned after they could not immediately locate her.

The incident was subsequently reported to the Victoria Island Police Division by the hostel’s Chief Matron at about 6:30 a.m.

Police officers were dispatched to the scene, after which Alayande’s body was evacuated to a morgue for preservation.

The command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident and said detectives were investigating to establish what happened.

Meanwhile, Uchenna Marvin, who said he supervised Alayande during her university years, described her death as heartbreaking.

Marvin recalled that Alayande had previously participated in discussions concerning the right to life and death while conducting research in Medical Law.

Alayande had completed her university education before gaining admission to the Nigerian Law School earlier in 2026.

Her death has sparked sadness among those who knew her, while the ongoing police investigation is expected to provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
