
Family announces passing of respected businessman and devoted Christian, says funeral details will follow
Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, husband of former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has passed away at the age of 62.
The Adeosun family confirmed his death in a statement released on Thursday, noting that he died on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in Lagos State.
The announcement, titled “Announcement of the passing of Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun,” was issued by Rev. C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family and made available to journalists.
Describing the late Adeosun as a distinguished businessman and a man of deep faith, the family paid tribute to his character and the impact he had on those around him.
“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother, Mr Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Wednesday, 5th August 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read.
“He was 62 years old. Niyi was a distinguished businessman and a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity, and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him. He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.”
The family also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support received since his passing, while drawing comfort from their Christian faith during the period of mourning.
Funeral and burial arrangements, according to the statement, will be announced at a later date.
Anthony Adeosun is survived by his wife, Kemi Adeosun; his children; and his siblings, including Kuramo Capital founder, Adewale Adeosun.
The family concluded by appreciating those who have sent prayers and condolences, praying that his soul rests in peace.
