Swift overnight operation in Otukpo leads to arrests as police intensify probe into murder of Ardo Risku Mohammed and associate

The Benue State Police Command has arrested ten suspects in connection with the killing of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in the state, Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, and another victim, Yakubu Isa.

The arrests were announced on Sunday in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, who said the breakthrough followed sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated tactical operations in Otukpo Local Government Area.

According to the police, the suspects were apprehended during a targeted overnight raid carried out on June 27, 2026. Those in custody include Titus Thyodenda (25), Utibe Sam (20), Owoicho Ameh (18), Sunday Useni (21), Sunday Ogbanje (46), Daniel Raphael (23), Adokole John (24), Samuel Ogazi (32), Agbo Daniel (25), and Onazi James (30).

Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus C.N. Nwadiogbu, praised the оперативность and professionalism of the tactical teams and investigators, noting that their prompt action led to the swift arrests.

He emphasized that investigations remain ongoing and assured that efforts have been intensified to track down other individuals linked to the killings.

The police chief reiterated the command’s determination to ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice in line with the law. He also called on residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and share useful information that could aid the investigation.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while maintaining peace and security across Benue State.
