Leverkusen striker shares video of himself in action as recovery from knee surgery nears completion.
Nigeria star and Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has given fans a glimpse of his recovery from injury.
He shared a video on social media showing himself taking on a defender during a match, captioning the post with a single word: “Soon.”
Boniface has not featured for Leverkusen this season due to a knee cartilage problem he had been managing since last summer. The injury eventually forced him off the pitch in December and led to surgery in January.
He had also been linked with a loan move to Werder Bremen, but the German club ruled out the possibility of bringing him in due to concerns over his fitness.
The Nigerian forward has endured a difficult injury history, having suffered two anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears before the age of 21.
Despite those setbacks, Boniface rebuilt his career at Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt before earning a move to Bayer Leverkusen. He went on to play a key role in the club’s historic Bundesliga title triumph in his debut season and was named the league’s Rookie of the Year.
A 42-second clip currently circulating on social media shows Boniface moving sharply and executing a nutmeg during what appeared to be a Leverkusen match, sparking excitement among Nigerian football fans who have closely followed his recovery.
