Doris Anite-Uzoka redeployed to Budget and National Planning Ministry as Oyedele moves from tax reform leadership to cabinet role.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance during a brief ceremony held at the State House on Monday.
Oyedele takes over from Dr. Doris Anite-Uzoka, who has been redeployed to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State. The redeployment marks the third ministerial portfolio Anite-Uzoka has held under the current administration.
The appointment follows the Senate’s confirmation of Oyedele on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, barely 24 hours after President Tinubu formally requested his screening.
Before joining the Federal Executive Council, Oyedele served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms. In that role, he led efforts to overhaul Nigeria’s tax framework, introducing proposals aimed at simplifying the tax system, boosting government revenue, and improving the ease of doing business in the country.
His new role at the Ministry of Finance is expected to align fiscal policy reforms with the government’s broader economic agenda.
