Socialite and City Boys Movement coordinator, Paschal Okechukwu, falls short as Hon. Canicemore Omeogo clinches Orlu/Orsu/Oru federal constituency ticket
Paschal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the House of Representatives in Imo State.
Okechukwu, a well-known businessman and coordinator of the City Boys Movement, contested in the party’s primaries to represent the Orlu/Orsu/Oru Federal Constituency but was defeated by Hon. Canicemore Omeogo.
The outcome of the primaries marks a significant political setback for the celebrity figure, who had generated attention with his entry into partisan politics and his alignment with the APC’s grassroots mobilization efforts.
Hon. Omeogo’s victory positions him as the party’s candidate for the forthcoming general elections, where he is expected to face contenders from other political parties in what is anticipated to be a closely watched race in the constituency.
Party officials are yet to release detailed voting figures from the exercise, but sources within the APC indicate that the primaries were keenly contested among aspirants.
Okechukwu has not publicly reacted to the outcome as of the time of filing this report. However, political observers say his participation reflects the growing trend of public figures venturing into elective politics in Nigeria.
