EFCC Warns Skit Makers: Unauthorized Use of Name, Logo Will Attract Prosecution

Anti-graft agency warns content creators against misrepresentation, threatens legal action over unapproved portrayals

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a stern warning to content creators, cautioning against the unauthorized use of its name, logo, and identity in skits and other media productions.

The commission said such portrayals often misrepresent its operations, values, and standard procedures, stressing that it has not granted approval for any such usage.

In a video message shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, the EFCC revealed that it has observed a growing trend of individuals incorporating the agency’s identity into online content without permission.

“It has come to our attention that some individuals and content creators are using the name, logo, and likeness of the EFCC in skits and other media content,” the agency stated.

The EFCC expressed concern that many of these productions distort its image and mislead the public about how it operates.

Reaffirming its position, the anti-graft body made it clear that it does not endorse or support any comedy, drama, or digital content that features its identity without prior written consent.

“The EFCC does not endorse, sponsor, or approve any content that uses our identity without authorization,” it added.

The commission warned that anyone found violating this directive risks facing prosecution.
