Residents say armed men are invading homes, attacking farmers and blocking highways, prompting the Peace Revival Awareness to demand military patrols, security outposts and targeted operations.

Residents of Kurmin Kaduna and adjoining villages say they are living in fear, as armed men now invade homes, farms and highways at will, abducting people and demanding ransoms too heavy for poor families to pay.

In an urgent appeal released today and addressed to President Bola Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, the Minister of Defence, and top security chiefs in Kaduna, the Peace Revival Awareness, Kurmin Kaduna Chapter, said the situation has grown beyond what local vigilantes and community leaders can handle.

"For several months now, our people have lived in constant fear," said the Chairman of the group, Shu'lbu Kurmin Mashi. “Armed men storm our homes at night. They attack farmers on their fields. They block our roads. Children are afraid to go to school. Many families have fled their homes.”

According to the group, the peace they have spent years building through sensitization and community dialogue is now collapsing under the weight of daily attacks.

The appeal, copied to the Commissioner of Police Kaduna Command, the DSS Director in Kaduna, and the Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, lists four urgent demands:

Immediate deployment: 24-hour military patrols and rapid response teams in Kurmin Kaduna Permanent presence Establishment of a military base or Police outpost within the community.

Sweep operations: Targeted raids to clear bandit hideouts in forests and border areas around Kurmin, Community partnership: Work directly with local leaders on intelligence gathering and community policing

"We are not asking for too much. We are asking to live," Mashi said. “With our gallant military personnel on ground, we believe normalcy can return. Our people deserve to sleep with their two eyes closed, to go to their farms, and to send children to school without fear.”

The group said it remains committed to peace advocacy and will continue to support government efforts through sensitization and cooperation with security agencies.

They described the appeal as "a matter of life and death" for thousands of law-abiding citizens in Kurmin Kaduna and surrounding communities.
