Labour Party Reinstates 26 Suspended Members, Elects Hilda Dokubo as Women Leader

Unanimous convention vote in Umuahia signals reconciliation drive as Nenadi-Usman pledges unity within party ranks

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party (LP) has lifted the suspension placed on 26 members, marking a significant step toward internal reconciliation within the party.

Those reinstated include prominent figures such as Hilda Dokubo, Emmanuel Agida, Abayomi Arabambi, Ogar Osim, Muhammed Aliyu, Casmir Uchenna, Airen Igbinedion, Auwal Ahmed, and 18 others.

The decision was ratified on Tuesday at the party’s national convention held at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia, Abia State. Delegates from across the country endorsed the move through a unanimous voice vote, reflecting broad consensus among party stakeholders.

Chairman of the elective convention, Ginger Onwusibe, officially announced the reinstatement following the delegates’ approval.

Speaking after the decision, the newly elected National Chairman of the Labour Party, Esther Nenadi-Usman, described the move as part of efforts to foster unity, reconciliation, and forgiveness within the party.

In a related development, Hilda Dokubo—one of the reinstated members—was elected as the party’s National Women Leader, underscoring her renewed standing within the Labour Party.
