Liverpool, however, refused to let the early setback derail their night. The hosts gradually grew into the contest and eventually found an equaliser five minutes before half-time.

Dominik Szoboszlai restored parity in the 40th minute, giving Liverpool a much-needed boost heading into the break.

The Reds carried that momentum into the second half and completed the comeback just five minutes after the restart.
