Actress Ewatomilola recounts disturbing details of the January 8 incident as police launch a manhunt for the suspect.
A Lagos estate was thrown into shock on the evening of January 8 following the alleged killing of a woman by her husband in a domestic violence incident. The account was shared by actress Ewatomilola, who said the tragedy occurred around 8:30 p.m.
According to reports, the suspect—identified only as AY—allegedly attacked his wife during a violent confrontation inside their home. Sources say the woman was a mother of five children, with three currently surviving.
Eyewitness accounts claim AY had a history of alcohol abuse and domestic violence. On the night of the incident, he allegedly sent the couple’s eldest child on an errand and confined the other children to a room. An argument reportedly followed after his wife declined an offer to drink with him. She later succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack.
After the incident, the suspect is said to have fled Lagos and is believed to be hiding in Kaduna. Ewatomilola further alleged that AY was obsessively controlling and became enraged over his wife’s decision to leave the marriage, a factor believed to have triggered the fatal incident.
Security agencies have launched a search and are urging members of the public to report any sighting or useful information that could lead to his arrest.
