Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé finishes the 2025/26 Champions League season as top scorer with 15 goals, joining an exclusive group dominated by Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Kylian Mbappé has further cemented his status among the UEFA Champions League’s elite goalscorers after finishing the 2025/26 campaign as the competition’s leading scorer with 15 goals.

The Real Madrid forward found the net 15 times in 11 appearances, including a remarkable 13 goals during the league phase.

UEFA’s season-by-season scoring records, covering campaigns from 2000/01 through 2025/26, highlight the dominance of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in European football’s premier club competition.

Ronaldo finished as the Champions League’s top scorer in seven seasons, while Messi claimed the honour six times. The two superstars also shared the 2014/15 scoring crown with former Barcelona teammate Neymar.

Ronaldo’s best single-season return came in 2013/14, when he scored a then-record 17 goals for Real Madrid. His 16-goal haul in 2015/16 remains the second-highest total recorded on the list.

Robert Lewandowski ended the Ronaldo-Messi dominance in 2019/20, scoring 15 goals for Bayern Munich as the German giants won the Champions League.

Mbappé has now finished as the competition’s leading scorer twice. He previously shared the honour with Harry Kane in 2023/24 after both players scored eight goals, before claiming the award outright in 2025/26.

His latest 15-goal haul puts him alongside Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Lewandowski among the standout single-season goalscorers of the modern Champions League era.

The historical scoring list also features Erling Haaland, who topped the charts with 12 goals in 2022/23 and 10 in 2020/21. Raphinha and Serhou Guirassy shared the 2024/25 scoring crown after both finished with 13 goals.

Other notable past winners include Raúl, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Fernando Morientes, Andriy Shevchenko and Kaká.

With the 2026/27 Champions League league-phase draw scheduled for Thursday in Monaco, Europe’s leading forwards will begin another campaign with a fresh opportunity to rewrite the competition’s scoring history.
