Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly frustrated by Vinicius Jr’s poor start to the season, with the Brazilian winger facing increased competition for his place.

Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr could lose his place in the club’s starting XI as manager Jose Mourinho reportedly grows increasingly frustrated with the Brazilian’s performances, according to Marca.

The 26-year-old has endured a difficult start to the new season, scoring just once in eight appearances.

His poor run of form comes after a summer in which he was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal before eventually committing his future to Real Madrid by signing a new contract.

Mourinho’s concerns were highlighted again during Real Madrid’s 2-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid last weekend, when the Portuguese manager substituted Vinicius in the 54th minute.

It was the fourth consecutive match in which Vinicius had been taken off, following similar substitutions against Inter Milan, Rayo Vallecano and Elche.

With Real Madrid already five points behind Barcelona in the LaLiga title race, Mourinho is reportedly demanding greater consistency from his players.

Vinicius could now face increased competition for his starting position if his performances do not improve.

The Brazilian winger will therefore be under pressure to respond quickly as he looks to regain Mourinho’s confidence and secure his place in Real Madrid’s starting lineup.
