Nigeria Judo Federation president says appointment affirms professionalism, integrity, and merit in national service
The President of the Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF), Dr. Musa Oshodi, has congratulated Tunji Disu on his appointment as the Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), describing the decision as a strong endorsement of professionalism, competence, and integrity in national service.
In a statement issued on behalf of the federation, Oshodi noted that Disu’s elevation reflects his distinguished career within the Nigeria Police Force and his broader contributions to national development.
He recalled that Disu made international headlines in 2022 while serving as a Deputy Commissioner of Police, after winning a silver medal at the 33rd US Open Judo Championship held in Brookline, Massachusetts. The competition featured more than 500 veteran judokas from across the globe.
“On behalf of the board and the entire Nigeria Judo Federation family, I warmly congratulate Mr. Disu, who also served meritoriously as a member of our immediate past board, on this well-deserved appointment,” Oshodi said.
He further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force to what he described as a “core professional,” noting that the decision was reassuring and timely.
“The decision by President Tinubu to entrust this critical office to a core professional is both reassuring and commendable, as it promises improved operational efficiency and deeper community engagement across the force,” Oshodi added.
The NJF president emphasised that strong and accountable institutions remain central to national progress, playing key roles in youth empowerment, social stability, and the continued development of sports in Nigeria.
Oshodi also expressed optimism that Disu’s leadership would usher in meaningful reforms within the police force, reinforcing discipline, professionalism, and citizen-focused policing nationwide.
