The Nigeria Shooting Sport Federation, with support from DICON Gray Insignia Limited’s The Armory initiative, says the new portal will streamline membership, club affiliation, training, competitions and athlete development.

The Nigeria Shooting Sport Federation is set to launch a new digital portal on October 1, 2026, as part of efforts to expand organised shooting sports, improve athlete development and create a more structured system for participation across Nigeria.

DICON Gray Insignia Limited, which is supporting the initiative through its shooting-sports programme, The Armory, announced the planned launch while beginning a sensitisation campaign ahead of the October rollout. According to the organisation, the portal is expected to support membership, club affiliation, training, competitions and wider participation in shooting sports.

Bem Ibrahim Garba, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DICON Gray Insignia, shared his excitement about the initiative with Newspot Nigeria, describing the development as an important step in strengthening the structure of shooting sports in the country. Garba has previously said Nigeria has the potential to make a notable impact in international shooting sports if athletes are given access to modern facilities and training that meet global standards. 

The initiative comes as the federation intensifies efforts to reposition shooting as a mainstream sporting discipline with clearer pathways for athletes, recreational shooters, institutions and clubs. DGI said The Armory initiative is designed to create a structured and professionally managed environment where participants can learn, train and compete responsibly.

The October campaign is expected to highlight professional training, membership and licensing, affiliated clubs, national competitions and youth-development programmes. Promotional material released ahead of the launch states that the NSSF portal will go live at noon on October 1, following a sensitisation programme scheduled earlier that morning.

DGI has also been working to strengthen standards at The Armory Shooting Sports Range in Abuja. In a recent registration exercise, the company said its focus included improved user documentation, stronger safety compliance and professionally managed shooting-sports operations. 

Garba has been identified consistently as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DICON Gray Insignia, including in recent reporting on the company's defence and sporting initiatives. 

The development forms part of broader efforts to build a stronger shooting-sports community capable of producing athletes who can compete successfully at continental, Commonwealth and Olympic levels. DGI said it will continue supporting the NSSF sensitisation campaign by providing information about the sport, available opportunities and responsible participation ahead of the portal launch.
