Nigerian striker’s stunning bicycle kick for Trabzonspor beats Kökçü, Asensio to clinch top honour

Paul Onuachu, the Trabzonspor striker, has won the Süper Lig Goal of the Season award for the 2025/26 campaign, following his stunning strike against Fatih Karagümrük on September 27, 2025.

The Nigerian forward’s spectacular bicycle kick in Trabzonspor’s 4-2 victory during the Week Seven fixture earned him the award ahead of Beşiktaş midfielder Orkun Kökçü and Fenerbahçe forward Marco Asensio.

Onuachu latched onto a cross from Wagner Pina before producing an acrobatic overhead kick that beat goalkeeper Ivo Grbić.

“You chose, he won. The winner of the most beautiful goal of the 2025/26 Trendyol Süper Lig season has been determined: Paul Onuachu,” the league announced.

Following his impressive performances, there has been speculation over a possible summer departure, with the Super Eagles striker expected to build on a standout campaign and maintain his fine form next season.

Onuachu enjoyed an outstanding season for Trabzonspor, scoring 22 league goals and providing two assists to finish as joint top scorer alongside İstanbul Başakşehir’s Eldor Shomurodov.

He also went on a 10-match scoring streak. However, after reaching 22 league goals, the Nigerian slowed down in the closing weeks of the campaign, allowing Shomurodov to draw level in the race for the Golden Boot.

Meanwhile, Onuachu has been linked with a potential exit from Trabzonspor, with Saudi Arabian clubs reportedly prepared to offer him improved terms.
