Coalition cites improved military operations and inter-agency coordination, calls for stronger intelligence and public support to secure lasting peace

The Coalition of Northern Elders for Peace and Development has praised President Bola Tinubu for what it describes as measurable progress in the fight against insecurity, particularly across northern Nigeria.

In a statement, the group pointed to recent military offensives targeting terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements as evidence of renewed federal resolve to restore order and safeguard lives. It noted that enhanced coordination among security agencies, alongside intensified operations, is beginning to yield tangible results on the ground.

Despite the gains, the elders acknowledged that security challenges remain and stressed that the battle is far from over. They urged citizens to actively support security forces by providing timely and credible intelligence, emphasizing that national security is a shared responsibility.

The coalition further called on the Federal Government to maintain the momentum by deepening ongoing security reforms, strengthening intelligence systems, and scaling up efforts to dismantle criminal networks nationwide.

They expressed optimism that with sustained commitment and public cooperation, Nigeria can achieve lasting peace and stability.
