The voters were reportedly found at the residence of an Accord Party member in Osun State as the governorship election got underway.

More than 100 people allegedly brought into Osun State to participate in the governorship election have reportedly been arrested while in possession of newly issued Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The group was said to have been accommodated at the residence of Hon. Abiola Ibrahim, an Accord Party member and lawmaker representing the Irewole-Isokan Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly.

The alleged incident occurred as voters across the state headed to polling units to participate in the governorship election.

A video circulating widely on social media shows the alleged voters being questioned by security operatives after they were reportedly discovered at Ibrahim’s residence.

In the footage, the individuals could be seen gathered at the premises while security personnel questioned them about their presence and their intended purpose in the state.

Ibrahim, who was reportedly present during the questioning, was heard explaining that the large group had been staying at his residence to participate in the election and vote for the Accord Party.

The development has raised concerns over alleged attempts to influence the outcome of the election through the movement of voters from outside their places of registration.

However, the identities, places of origin and voter-registration details of those arrested could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report.

It was also unclear whether the individuals had committed any electoral offence or whether their presence in the state violated electoral regulations.
