Intelligence-led operations across multiple divisions uncover illegal weapons, stolen phone, and deepen probe into suspected criminal network
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested five suspects—including a father and his son—and recovered four firearms in a series of coordinated, intelligence-driven operations across the state.
In a statement shared on Friday via X, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseye, said the operations led to the seizure of one locally made pistol, one fabricated pistol, and two dane guns. Officers also recovered a live cartridge and a stolen Tecno Android phone valued at ₦180,000.
According to the police, one of the key arrests was carried out by operatives of the Afon Division, who apprehended Fatai Adegbola and his 23-year-old son, Waliu Adegbola, following a reported theft.
Waliu is accused of stealing a Tecno Android phone from a residential apartment on May 8, 2026. The incident was reported to the police on May 22, prompting swift action that led to the arrest of both suspects.
The police said the broader operation forms part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on criminal activities and illegal possession of firearms across Ogun State. Investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of the suspects’ involvement in other crimes and to apprehend additional accomplices.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining intelligence-led policing and urged residents to continue providing timely information to support crime-fighting efforts.
