Chief Registrar says digital capacity building will improve case management, reduce delays, and align courts with global best practices.

The Sokoto State Judiciary has intensified capacity-building programmes for its personnel in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as part of efforts to enhance efficiency and improve service delivery within the court system.

This was disclosed by the Chief Registrar of the State High Court, Mr. Aliyu Jafar, during an interview with journalists in Sokoto.

According to Jafar, the initiative aligns with modern judicial practices, noting that several court staff members have already undergone ICT training to equip them with skills in electronic filing and digital case management.

He explained that the move would significantly reduce delays, improve record-keeping, and position the Sokoto justice system in line with national and international best practices.

The Chief Registrar further revealed that the judiciary has established a dedicated ICT Department within the court system, adding that personnel now participate in regular in-house training to strengthen their digital competence.

Jafar noted that the High Court has recorded notable progress in case management, judicial reforms, and access to justice as a result of the digital transformation.

He disclosed that in 2025 alone, no fewer than 1,155 cases were registered, with the judiciary expanding its digital capacity—an achievement he attributed to the ICT skills acquired by court personnel.
