Ex-Ekiti governor to lead Rural Electrification Agency as President reshuffles leadership across 10 agencies, moves Adeyanju, names new heads for NPC, NBET, NAEC, others

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), in a sweeping round of federal appointments affecting 10 key government agencies and commissions.

The announcement, which takes immediate effect, was disclosed in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. In total, 26 individuals were named to strategic leadership roles across critical sectors of the economy.

Fayose will chair the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members and non-executive directors. The agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, will continue to serve on the board with three executive directors.

In another major appointment, Major General Junaid Bindawa (retd.) was named Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.

The President also reassigned Tosin Johnson Adeyanju from his previous role as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

Other key appointments include Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

Engineer Julius Oloro was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), while Tinubu also approved the constitution of the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission.

Further appointments were made to the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, as well as the Federal Housing Authority, as part of efforts to strengthen governance and service delivery across key sectors.
