The singer’s father says his son was 34, not 44, when he died, recounting how a disagreement with his daughter-in-law over the burial location led him to suggest laying his son to rest beside his late mother in their village.
The father of late singer Toluwanisings has clarified his son’s age and recounted a disagreement with his daughter-in-law over where the musician should be buried.
In a vieo circulating online, the bereaved father dismissed claims that his son was 44 years old, insisting that the late singer was born in 1992 and was 34 at the time of his death.
He also revealed that his son, whose Muslim name was Sodiq before he converted to Christianity, lost his mother when he was just six months old.
“Six months after his mother gave birth to him in 1992, she passed away. My son is 34 years old, not 44. People are just making assumptions. I, the father, know when I gave birth to him,” he said.
Recounting the painful circumstances surrounding the news of his son’s death, the father said he was attending a ceremony on a Wednesday when he received a distress call asking him to return home.
He said the situation became even more heartbreaking when photographs of his son began circulating on social media with messages announcing his death.
“On that fateful day, Wednesday, I was at a ceremony when I got a distress call that I should start coming home. Before we knew it, we started seeing his photos flying around on the internet with RIP, which really broke my heart,” he recalled.
Father, Wife Disagree Over Burial Location
The grieving father also disclosed that he contacted his son’s wife after the incident to discuss arrangements for the burial.
According to him, his daughter-in-law suggested that the late singer should be buried in a cemetery or at a church.
However, he said he disagreed with the proposal, arguing that since his son owned a house, he should be buried there instead.
The father explained that his daughter-in-law rejected the idea, saying she would not be comfortable living in a house where her husband had been buried.
He said the disagreement prompted him to suggest an alternative: taking his son’s body to their village and burying him beside his late mother.
“I told them that if they wouldn’t allow him to be buried inside his house, they should bring him down to the village where his mother is and bury him beside her,” he said.
The account has brought attention to the family’s reported disagreement over the late singer’s final resting place, as well as questions surrounding his age and personal history.
While the father’s account provides his perspective on the matter, further details about the final burial arrangements and the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death were not established in the statement.
