Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has won the 2026 governorship election, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, with Osun indigenes insisting that the outcome should be seen as a defeat for President Bola Tinubu and the APC, rather than a personal defeat for Oyebamiji.

 The incumbent Osun State Governor and candidate of the Accord Party, Ademola Adeleke, has emerged victorious in the 2026 governorship election, according to the overall results presented across the state’s 30 local government areas.

Adeleke secured 511,066 votes, placing the Accord Party firmly ahead of its closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC), which recorded 444,815 votes.

The result gives Adeleke a winning margin of 66,251 votes over the APC.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), the third major contender in the election, polled 17,006 votes, according to the figures supplied.

Adeleke leads in 19 LGAs

According to the collated figures, Adeleke’s Accord Party won 19 of the 30 local government areas, while the APC led in 11 LGAs.

The ADC did not lead in any local government area based on the figures provided.

With more than half a million votes, Adeleke finished about 15 per cent ahead of the APC in the overall results supplied.

The combined votes recorded by the three leading parties stood at 972,887.

APC puts up strong challenge

Although the APC fell short of the Accord Party in the overall tally, its performance reflected a strong challenge in several parts of the state.

The party secured the highest number of votes in 11 local government areas, narrowing the gap in some areas and maintaining a substantial presence across the state.

However, the Accord Party’s stronger showing across 19 LGAs proved decisive as the results from the various local government areas were added together.
