Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke secured a decisive victory at his polling unit in Ede North as voting ended and results began to emerge across the state.
There was jubilation in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State on Saturday after Governor Ademola Adeleke won his polling unit in the ongoing governorship election.
Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, secured 421 votes at Ward 02, Polling Unit 009, Abogunde Compound, in Sagba Abogunde, Ede North.
His victory at the polling unit sparked celebrations among his supporters, who gathered at the venue as the result was announced.
The governor had earlier cast his ballot at the same polling unit, where he expressed confidence that he would emerge victorious in the election.
The result from his polling unit came as collation began across the state, with the three leading contenders expressing optimism about their chances of winning the governorship race.
The All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, also expressed confidence in victory after casting his vote at Ward 09, Unit 011, in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area.

Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, raised concerns over the alleged non-recognition of some of his party’s agents at several polling locations across the state.
The election is being closely watched as the Independent National Electoral Commission continues the electronic transmission and uploading of polling unit results on its Result Viewing Portal, IReV.
As of 5:24pm on Saturday, checks on the IReV portal showed that 1,386 of the 3,763 polling unit results had been uploaded.
The figures are expected to change as more results are transmitted and uploaded and as the official collation process continues.
The Osun governorship election has attracted significant attention, with supporters of the various candidates monitoring the results from polling units across the state.
INEC is expected to continue the collation process before declaring the final result and announcing the winner of the election.
