Adeleye Adeniyi, popularly known as “Online Loan Man for BAO,” says he took out a loan to support the politicians’ re-election bids, citing their performance and projects in Ekiti State.
An Ado-Ekiti-born mini-truck driver, Adeleye Adeniyi, has disclosed that he borrowed ₦3.5 million to campaign for President Bola Tinubu, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and Ekiti State House of Assembly member Steve Fatoba ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Adeniyi, popularly known as “Online Loan Man for BAO,” made the disclosure in a video interview with journalists circulating on Friday. He displayed what appeared to be a Wema Bank cardboard cheque showing ₦2 million for Tinubu, ₦1 million for Bamidele and ₦500,000 for Fatoba.
The driver said his decision to take on the financial commitment was driven by his belief in the politicians’ performance and his desire to see them return to office.
Speaking about Tinubu, Adeniyi said he was prepared to campaign actively for the President, whom he credited with doing a great job.
“I am supporting Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his second-term ambition. I have borrowed money. I want to use this money to support him because he’s doing a very great job,” he said.
He also pledged to use a campaign song to mobilise support for Tinubu, expressing his readiness to take his message to the public.
“Like I said again, I am fully ready to go out to campaign for him. And I’m going to use this song to back him up. On your mandate, we shall stand,” Adeniyi added.
Appeals to Nigerians to Support Tinubu
Adeniyi urged Nigerians to vote for Tinubu for a second term, arguing that he believed the country would benefit further if the President remained in office.
“I will appeal to my fellow Nigerians that we should demonstrate love by giving him, by voting him for his second term in office, because we are still going to see much more, more than what we have received,” he said.
Beyond the President, the driver expressed support for Bamidele and Fatoba, while also praising Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for what he described as contributions to the state's development.
He highlighted healthcare, education, electricity and rural infrastructure as areas in which he believed the administration and the politicians had made meaningful contributions.
Adeniyi particularly praised Bamidele's support for development projects, saying the senator's activities had encouraged him to view him as a leader worth supporting.
“Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, this man, I pray that we are still going to higher places. Most times, I look at the kind of projects that you always put on, you always supported. It always encouraged me that, no, indeed, this is a good leader,” he said.
His comments reflected his personal assessment of the politicians and their records in office.
Driver Previously Borrowed Money to Support Oyebanji
Adeniyi is not new to using borrowed funds to demonstrate his political support.
In February 2026, he reportedly attracted attention after taking a loan through the digital lending platform OPay to brand a vehicle in support of Governor Oyebanji's re-election campaign.
The mini-truck driver, who operates around the BAO Timber Market along Ilawe Road in Ado-Ekiti, said his earlier decision was motivated by his admiration for the governor's administration.
He also praised Oyebanji and Tinubu over their policies on education, healthcare and citizens' welfare, urging residents to support the governor's second-term ambition.
In the latest video, Adeniyi said he had again borrowed money to demonstrate his support, this time setting aside the stated amounts for Tinubu, Bamidele and Fatoba.
His disclosure has drawn attention to the lengths to which some political supporters are prepared to go to promote candidates they believe in.
However, the reported ₦3.5 million commitment also raises questions about the financial risks associated with borrowing to fund political activities, particularly for individuals who depend on their daily earnings.
Adeniyi's account, as presented in the video, centres on his personal conviction that the politicians deserve another term. The details of the loan, including its repayment terms, were not provided in the account.
