APC, LP, ADC, SDP among parties cleared to upload candidates’ details as commission urges strict adherence to deadlines
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that nine registered political parties have obtained access codes required to upload the particulars of their candidates for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
INEC National Commissioner for Voter Education and Publicity, Mohammed Haruna, disclosed this in Abuja, listing the parties as Accord (A), Action Alliance (AA), African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), National Democratic Party (NDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Haruna explained that political parties are responsible for requesting the access codes from the commission, noting that only authorised representatives with approval letters from party leadership are eligible to collect them.
He urged parties to comply strictly with INEC’s guidelines for candidate nominations, adding that party officials had already received training on the nomination process.
Haruna also warned against last-minute submissions, stressing that although the portal remains open until midnight on the closing date, any delays would be the responsibility of the parties.
According to INEC’s timetable, political parties are to submit nomination forms for presidential and National Assembly candidates between June 27 and July 11. Submissions for governorship and State Assembly elections will follow from July 18 to August 8.
INEC noted that the early collection of access codes forms part of preparations for the 2027 general elections and urged all participating parties to complete their nominations within the stipulated timelines.
