Oyo Govt Demolishes Ibadan Kidnap Den After Rescue of Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons

Building in Ibadan’s Lakoun community levelled after rescue of ex-minister’s sister and her twin sons

The Oyo State Government on Monday commenced the demolition of a suspected kidnappers’ den in Lakoun community, along the Ayegun-Olojuoro Road in Ibadan, following a recent rescue operation involving relatives of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.

The structure was identified by authorities as the hideout where Mrs Olaide Adegoke John-Paul—Adelabu’s younger sister—and her 12-year-old twin sons were held captive before security operatives secured their release over the weekend.

Officials said the demolition forms part of the state’s broader crackdown on criminal enclaves and a warning to individuals using residential or isolated structures as bases for kidnapping and other violent crimes.

The government reiterated its commitment to strengthening security across the state, vowing to sustain coordinated operations with security agencies to dismantle criminal networks and safeguard residents.
