
Kremlin says Moscow will maintain close ties with Tehran as leadership transition follows the era of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Mojtaba Khamenei on his reported appointment as Iran’s new Supreme Leader, reaffirming Moscow’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Tehran.
In a statement issued by the Kremlin, Putin extended his best wishes to Khamenei and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the Islamic Republic through what he described as a challenging period for the country and the wider region.
The Russian leader also voiced optimism that Mojtaba Khamenei would continue the legacy of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, while fostering unity and stability within Iran.
Putin emphasized that Russia intends to maintain strong cooperation with Tehran, highlighting the importance of the strategic partnership between the two countries amid ongoing geopolitical developments.
