Relief as John Arum reunites with family; fate of six other kidnapped travellers remains uncertain
John Arum, a graduate of the University of Jos, has regained his freedom after spending several days in captivity following his abduction along the troubled Jos–Kaduna highway.
Arum was reportedly kidnapped alongside six other passengers while travelling from Jos to Kaduna, a route long plagued by recurring security challenges and bandit attacks.
His release was confirmed by Gad Peter Shamaki, Global President of the University of Jos Alumni Association, who described the development as a huge relief for the institution’s community.
Shamaki expressed gratitude over Arum’s safe return, noting that he has since been reunited with his family. He also called for continued prayers and support to aid his full recovery from the ordeal.
However, uncertainty still surrounds the fate of the six other individuals abducted during the incident, as no official updates have been provided on their whereabouts.
Efforts to reach Arum’s family for further comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
