A robbery in Abuja has taken a deadly turn after a man who was stabbed during the theft of his iPhone 16 succumbed to his injuries, sparking outrage and near mob justice in the area.
Eyewitness accounts circulating online indicate that the victim was attacked by two suspected robbers who allegedly stole his phone and stabbed him during the encounter. While one of the suspects was quickly apprehended by residents at the scene, the second suspect reportedly fled before he could be captured.
Tensions escalated after news broke that the victim had died at the hospital. An angry crowd gathered and allegedly attempted to lynch the arrested suspect in retaliation.
Police officers responded swiftly, dispersing the mob with tear gas and securing the suspect, who was taken into custody to prevent further violence.
