Super Eagles winger set to return next week after picking up a minor calf injury against Manchester City
Fulham manager Marco Silva has confirmed that Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze will miss Sunday’s Premier League trip to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light due to a calf injury.
Chukwueze sustained the injury during Fulham’s 3–0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium and was subsequently absent from the Cottagers’ FA Cup victory over Stoke City.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Silva described the injury as minor but said it was enough to rule the Nigerian international out of the weekend fixture.
“The only player who is going to be out of the game is Chukwueze. After the City match, he felt something in his calf — nothing serious — but even this morning he was only involved in some light drills,” Silva told reporters.
“Probably in the first part of next week, he should be completely ready to work with the team, and he will be back for the next game,” he added.
Chukwueze, who joined Fulham on loan from AC Milan, has been impressive in the Premier League following a difficult spell in Serie A.
The winger has recorded three goals and four assists in 13 league appearances as Fulham continue their push for a European qualification spot.
