Viral video sparks fear for remaining hostages as residents demand urgent government action
Michael Oyedokun, one of the teachers abducted from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has reportedly been killed by his captors, intensifying public anger over the rising wave of school attacks.
Armed men stormed the school on Friday, May 15, 2026, kidnapping the principal, several teachers—including Oyedokun—and a number of students in a brazen daytime raid.
Tension escalated on Sunday after a disturbing video surfaced online, allegedly showing the killing of the teacher. The clip has since gone viral, deepening fears for the safety of those still held in captivity and drawing widespread condemnation.
The attack comes barely weeks after a failed kidnapping attempt along the Ibadan-Ijebu road that left a traveler dead, further highlighting the worsening security situation in parts of Oyo State.
Grief-stricken residents, families of the victims, and concerned indigenes have called on security agencies and the state government to intensify rescue efforts and ensure the safe return of the remaining hostages.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities have yet to officially confirm the reported killing of Oyedokun.
