Intelligence-led operation along Ago–Festac Bridge uncovers cache of arms, gadgets, and charms linked to alleged Aye Confraternity members

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested five suspected members of the Aye Confraternity during an intelligence-led stop-and-search operation along the Ago–Festac Bridge axis.

According to the Command, officers intercepted a Toyota Camry XLE carrying two suspects, identified as Emmanuel John, 24, and David Godwin, 28. A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the discovery of substances suspected to be hard drugs. During preliminary interrogation, both men allegedly confessed to being members of the Aye Confraternity.

The investigation was subsequently expanded, leading to the arrest of three additional suspects: Samuel Owubokiri, 25; Adetona Seyi, 20; and David Chigozie, 25. Police said all five suspects admitted affiliation with the same cult group.

Items recovered from the suspects include military camouflage, two machetes, a battle axe, a knife, 500 SIM cards, five mobile phones, five laptops, charms, and other substances suspected to be hard drugs.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling cultism and violent crime across the state. He urged residents to remain vigilant and support law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information.

The police also encouraged the public to report emergencies or share useful information through its designated contact lines as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety.
