In a historic twist, the Confederation of African Football overturns the final result, awarding Morocco a 3–0 forfeit victory after Senegal’s regulatory breach.
In a seismic shake-up that has sent shockwaves through the football world, the Confederation of African Football has officially stripped Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations crown and handed the title to Morocco.
The dramatic reversal comes after CAF's Appeal Board upheld a protest from the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football, ruling that Senegal violated tournament regulations during the final match. The result now stands as a 3–0 forfeit victory in favor of the Atlas Lions.
CAF confirmed that Senegal’s conduct breached Articles 82 and 84 of the competition rules, overturning the earlier disciplinary decision and voiding their on-field victory. Morocco is now recognized as the official African champion for 2025.
In parallel rulings, CAF partially upheld appeals regarding Moroccan midfielder Ismael Saibari and several incidents tied to VAR interference. While some fines were reduced, other sanctions related to match conduct were maintained.
