Multiple coordinated operations across Anambra, Kwara, Lagos, Kogi, and Nasarawa expose major trafficking networks, skuchies factory, and massive drug consignments.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested three persons with disabilities (PWDs), including a 60-year-old suspect, in separate drug trafficking operations across Anambra and Kwara States.
In a broader nationwide crackdown, the agency also uncovered a sprawling ₦5.8 billion cannabis stash house in Lekki, Lagos, and dismantled an illicit “skuchies” production factory within the state.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed the developments in a statement issued on Sunday, detailing a string of high-impact operations carried out by operatives.
According to the statement, 60-year-old Romanus Nwabara was apprehended on May 6, 2026, in Akpaka Forest, Onitsha, Anambra State, where he was allegedly found with 250 grams of skunk packaged for street-level distribution.
In a separate raid in Ogbunike, Anambra, operatives arrested 25-year-old Amos Kenneth, also identified as a PWD, with a cache of drugs including Tramadol, Diazepam, Exol-5, and skunk in varying quantities.
Similarly, along the Bode Saadu corridor in Kwara State, NDLEA officers intercepted a commercial vehicle on May 8 and discovered 6.3 kilograms of skunk concealed in a passenger’s school bag. The suspect, Usman Salisu, was also identified as a person with disability.
In a major breakthrough in Lagos, NDLEA’s Special Operations Unit raided a mansion in Lekki Phase 1 allegedly used as a drug warehouse. The operation led to the seizure of 4,000 parcels of “Loud,” a potent cannabis strain, weighing 2,326 kilograms and valued at over ₦5.8 billion.
The agency also recovered two Mercedes-Benz buses and drug packaging materials from the property, located on African Lane.
Elsewhere, operatives arrested Emmanuel Osita Okeke in Nasarawa State with 129 kilograms of skunk, while another operation along the Okene–Lokoja highway in Kogi State led to the interception of a commuter bus carrying 766 kilograms of skunk concealed in 76 jumbo bags. Three suspects were arrested in connection with the seizure.
In Lagos, NDLEA officers stormed a makeshift skuchies production site in Ijora Badia, arresting two suspects caught in the act of preparing the illicit cocktail. Recovered items included 270 litres of the substance and quantities of Tramadol.
The agency noted that its commands nationwide also intensified sensitisation efforts under the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, targeting schools, religious centres, workplaces, and local communities.
Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), commended the officers involved in the operations, urging sustained momentum in both enforcement and public awareness drives.
