Extraordinary General Assembly in Yenagoa to constitute electoral committees and appoint independent auditor ahead of September elections.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially begun preparations for its 2026 electoral process.
The announcement was made in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, where the host federation, the Bayelsa State Football Association, will set up the electoral committee during today’s Extraordinary General Assembly.
The federation also announced that the assembly will appoint members of the NFF Electoral Committee and the Electoral Appeals Committee, as well as select an Independent Auditor to oversee the federation’s governance and compliance.
Officials from FIFA and CAF are in Nigeria to observe proceedings and ensure that the electoral process aligns with international standards.
The NFF conducts elections every four years during its Annual General Assembly in September. The next vote is scheduled for the 82nd Annual General Assembly in a city yet to be announced.
Ibrahim Gusau currently leads the federation. He was elected on September 30, 2022, during the 78th NFF Annual General Assembly in Benin City, Edo State.
Reports state that the extraordinary gathering in Yenagoa will bring together all chairmen and secretaries of Nigeria’s 36 state football associations and the Federal Capital Territory.
These are alongside members of the NFF Executive Committee, management, league officials, and representatives from the Coaches, Referees, and Players’ Associations.
