Nigerian Forward Victor Udoh Dies at 21 in Abuja Under Suspicious Circumstances

Former Southampton and Royal Antwerp striker, once tipped as a rising talent in Europe, was reportedly found dead shortly after returning to Nigeria.

Former Nigerian youth international forward Victor Udoh has died at the age of 21, with reports indicating that he was found in Abuja under circumstances described as suspicious.

According to the information, the exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed at the time of reporting, and investigations or clarifications are still awaited.

Udoh had recently returned to Nigeria following the conclusion of his spell with Czech club Dynamo České Budějovice, which he joined after leaving Southampton in 2025.

The young striker previously signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Southampton but spent just seven months at the English club without making a senior appearance, as he sought more regular playing time elsewhere.

Before his move to England, Udoh featured for Belgian side Royal Antwerp, where he developed through the ranks after joining from Abuja-based Hypebuzz Academy. He impressed at reserve level, scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances, before going on to make 28 first-team appearances for the club.

Throughout his early career in Europe, Udoh was widely regarded as a promising attacking talent, attracting attention for his development across multiple clubs before his move to Southampton.
