Habibat Ihiovi-Jack wraps up six-day endurance feat in Port Harcourt, awaits Guinness verification as supporters hail faith-driven mission

Habibat Salawudeen Ihiovi-Jack has completed a remarkable 144-hour non-stop Bible reading marathon, concluding a six-day endurance challenge aimed at setting a new Guinness World Record.

The faith-driven feat ended on Monday, June 29, at the Novotel Hotel in Port Harcourt, where she began the challenge on June 22. Branded “144 Hours in the Word,” the marathon adhered strictly to Guinness World Records guidelines, allowing only short breaks for rest, meals, and personal needs.

Videos shared across Instagram captured the intense journey, showing Ihiovi-Jack reading aloud from a lectern while digital timers tracked each passing hour. She was supported throughout by family, church members, and well-wishers who followed both on-site and online.

A member of Summit Bible Church, Ihiovi-Jack said the initiative was inspired by a desire to deepen engagement with Scripture and encourage believers to commit more intentionally to Bible study.

Her Senior Pastor, Dr. Andy Osakwe of Summit Bible Churches Worldwide, described the effort as more than a record attempt. He said it was “a spiritual project designed to exalt God’s Word and inspire believers.”

The journey to the marathon reportedly began in June 2022, following years of preparation that combined spiritual discipline with endurance training.

Her attempt comes amid growing Nigerian interest in record-breaking endurance feats. In 2024, Samson Ajao from Ibadan set the current Guinness World Record for the longest marathon reading aloud at 215 hours, surpassing the previous 124-hour record held by Kyrgyzstan’s Rysbai Isakov.

Ihiovi-Jack’s 144-hour reading marathon will now undergo official review by Guinness World Records before any new record can be confirmed.
