Social media activist rejects ex-governor’s allegation, cites Niger, Kebbi and Kwara attacks, says insecurity should not be politicised
Social media activist, VeryDarkMan, has criticised former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, over his claim that the recent Oyo school abduction may have been politically orchestrated to discredit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Fayose had alleged during a television interview that the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State raised political suspicion, suggesting that the incident may have been staged to embarrass the President.
Reacting in a video message, VeryDarkMan dismissed the claim, accusing the former governor of downplaying Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and shifting attention away from victims and their families.
He questioned why similar mass abductions and attacks in other parts of the country were not also described as politically motivated, insisting that insecurity should not be reduced to political interpretation.
The activist referenced the November 2025 abduction of over 300 students and staff of St. Mary’s School in Niger State, as well as the kidnapping of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State. He also cited the attack on a Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara State, where worshippers were abducted.
According to him, focusing on the Oyo incident as political blackmail while ignoring other similar cases undermines the seriousness of Nigeria’s security challenges.
VeryDarkMan stressed that the priority should be the rescue of abducted victims, strengthening school security systems, and ensuring accountability from authorities rather than politicising tragedies involving innocent citizens.
